The countdown begins as the Tamworth Region prepares to welcome some of the state’s most promising young athletes for the highly anticipated 2025 Your Local Club Academy Games, set to kick off in 2 weeks time from Friday, April 11th.
Hosted by Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS), this year’s event promises to ignite excitement across various venues throughout the Tamworth region, running from April 11th to April 13th. It marks the first of a three-year tenure for NIAS as the host Academy, with a roster of close to 2 000 emerging talents set to showcase athleticism across eight sports: Basketball, Cycling (MTB), Golf, Hockey, Netball, Triathlon, Softball and Indoor Volleyball.
This competition will bring together athletes, coaches, families, and supporters from all 11 Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) across New South Wales. Among them are the Central Coast, Far West, Illawarra, Hunter, North Coast, Northern Inland, South East, South West Sydney, Southern, Western Region, and Western Sydney Academies of Sport. Additionally, the event will feature guest teams from Sydney.
In 2025, Southern Sports Academy will be sending a team of 96 athletes, coaches, and support staff to compete across four sports: Golf, Basketball, Netball, and Hockey. Our athletes are ready to give it their all and represent the Southern region at the Academy Games.
Shona Eichorn, CEO of NIAS, expressed her enthusiasm, “Bringing together the best young athletes from across New South Wales, the 2025 Your Local Club Academy Games in Tamworth promises not just competition, but a celebration of talent, determination and community spirit. As the Northern Inland Region proudly hosts this event for the first of three years, we invite everyone to witness the power of sport to unite and inspire.”
