Southern Sports Academy is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our athletes at the 2025 NSW Champions of Sport Awards, held on Monday, 24 November, at The Star, Sydney. The Awards recognise the highest sporting honours in NSW, celebrating athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and organisations for their exceptional performances over the past year.

We are thrilled to announce that two of our athletes were recognised with top honours at this prestigious event.

Sienna Toohey, a rising breaststroke star, was awarded Young Athlete of the Year. Sienna represented Australia at the World Championships in Singapore this year, and at just 16 years old, she was the youngest member of the Australian Dolphins Swim Squad competing on the world stage. Her dedication, talent, and composure at such a young age have marked her as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging swimmers.

Jackson Gray (pictured below) was awarded Young Athlete of the Year with a Disability for his remarkable achievements in 2025. Jackson represented Australia at the U23 World Championships in São Paulo, competing with the Spinners. At only 15 years of age, he performed at a world-class level, demonstrating skill, resilience, and maturity far beyond his years.

These achievements highlight not only the exceptional talent of Sienna and Jackson, but also the hard work, guidance, and support from their coaches, families, and the broader Southern Sports Academy community. We are incredibly proud of both athletes for representing the Academy, NSW, and Australia on the world stage, and for inspiring the next generation of young athletes.

Congratulations to Sienna and Jackson — your achievements are a testament to your dedication, determination, and love for your sport. We look forward to following your continued success in 2026 and beyond!
