The Southern Sports Academy is incredibly proud to celebrate the selection of Mia Hogan, who will represent Australia in Para Swimming at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August.
The selection marks a remarkable achievement for Mia and further reinforces the strength of regional athlete development pathways across the Southern Sports Academy region.
At just 14 years old, Mia is currently the youngest member of the entire Australian Commonwealth Games Team – a extraordinary milestone for an athlete of her age and a testament to her rapid rise through the ranks of para swimming.
Mia, from Albury, NSW, has earned her place in the Australian Dolphins squad to contest the 50m and 100m Freestyle in the S13 category. One of seven debutants named in the Para Swimming squad, her selection follows a string of impressive performances on the national stage and reflects years of dedication and commitment to her sport.
“I am so excited to join the Dolphins at the Commonwealth Games, to wear the green and gold, it’s something I’ve dreamed about,” Hogan said.
“I’ve learned so much from the more experienced swimmers… I’ve already known ‘Lucky’ and I’ve met Lani Pallister, and I’m really looking forward to joining them on the team and racing on such a big stage.”
Jared Kahlefeldt, Regional Manager of Southern Sports Academy said Mia’s selection was a proud moment for the academy and the wider community.
“To see Mia selected as the youngest member of the Australian Commonwealth Games Team is an incredible achievement and a moment the entire Southern region can celebrate. Her journey is a wonderful example of what is possible through strong regional pathways, and we know the whole community will be cheering her on in Glasgow.”
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth in what promises to be one of the biggest international sporting events of the year.
