🎉 PREMIER LEAGUE NETBALL ANNOUCEMENT 🎉

We are excited to share some of the achievements of our Southern Sports Alumni, who have been recognised for their achievements and selected to play in the PROVIDOOR Premier League competition. This is the pinnacle netball competition in NSW, showcasing the best current and emerging talent within the state.

Of our 5 recent alumni athletes, 4 were chosen based on their performances for Riverina at the Regional State Cup held in Sydney in October.
- Jenna Richards, GWS Fury 23s
- Lily Webb, Sutherland Stingrays 23s
- Tahlia Quinn, South West Mounties 23s
- Phoebe Wallace, Sutherland Stingrays Opens
- Ava Moller, GWS Fury 23s
- Georgia Fuller, who is a previous coach of our program, Assistant Coach Central Coast Herat Opens

We also have 3 returning to the league after a successful 2024 season:

- Emily McPherson, South Coast Blaze Opens
-Kaylah Upfield - South Coast Blaze Opens
- Jess Conlan - Erna Hawks Opens

Mardi Aplin - Netball NSW General Manager Performance & Pathways was very impressed with the calibre of athletes within the Riverina Region, who are a product of the Southern Sports Academy program. The Regional State Cup competition is an opportunity for athletes 16 -23 years old just out of the Regional Academy age to showcase their talent from Regional NSW and potentially be contracted by Premier League franchises for the following season. Regional athletes, coaches and umpires sometimes feel that there are limited opportunities to progress or be seen outside our local areas, however this shows that the Netball NSW pathway is strong, and the local associations are doing a fantastic job. She encourages athletes and coaches to be a part of the Southern Sports Academy and then trial to play within the Regional league competition in the Riverina region. This is an excellent opportunity for athletes, coaches, and umpires who want to achieve in our sport.

The Regional Academies of Sport Ltd (RAS Ltd) is expanding, welcoming the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS) & Southern Sports Academy (SSA) into its centralised governance model. Together with the Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) & Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS), this move strengthens pathways for young athletes across NSW.
This new structure enhances collaboration, improves efficiencies, & ensures resources are focused where they matter most: on developing athletes & delivering high-quality programs.

She claimed the 13 girls 100m bronze and a new PB, a silver in the 4x50 relay, silver and a new PB in the 50 backstroke! Way to go, Georgia 🤩
