The Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) are proud to announce the renewal of our strategic partnership with the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS), extending the collaboration through to 2028.
This renewed agreement reflects a shared commitment to supporting regional athletes and coaches across New South Wales. Through this partnership, RAS and NSWIS will continue to advocate for each other to key stakeholders, including State Sporting Organisations, and collaborate on funding submissions and joint initiatives that strengthen the sporting pathway.
By working together, RAS and NSWIS aim to create a more connected and inclusive high-performance sport system – one that recognises the unique value of regional communities and ensures promising athletes and coaches have the support they need to thrive. This partnership enables both organisations to share expertise, contribute to talent development, and build stronger relationships with stakeholders, ultimately helping more young athletes from regional areas progress along the elite sport pathway.
A key feature of the renewed agreement is NSWIS’s continued support for the RAS Coach Conference and the provision of expert content and panel participation.
RAS Chief Executive Officer Brett O’Farrell said, “We are proud to continue our partnership with NSWIS, which plays a vital role in ensuring regional athletes and coaches are recognised and supported. This agreement strengthens our shared vision for a connected and inclusive sporting pathway across NSW.”
NSWIS Chief Executive Officer Kevin Thompson said: “NSWIS values its partnership with RAS, and we look forward to continuing our focus on providing regional coaches with insights and support from the Institute’s experts. We’re also proud to see our partnership is enriching sport throughout NSW via our connected pathway and shared vision.
This renewed partnership highlights the power of collaboration in building a thriving sporting ecosystem that reaches every corner of New South Wales.
