COVID-19 – 2020 Academy Games and Regular Programming

Dear All,

A statement below regarding both upcoming major events (i.e. Academy Games), but also our regular programs.

We will continue to monitor, and if necessary, call a conference discussion across all regional academies in the coming weeks.

Southern Sports Academy (SSA) will post on our Team App, SSA and Academy Games websites and social media channels.

With the media coverage currently being aired regarding the developing impact of COVID-19, the SSA as participants of the 2020 Your Local Club Academy Games, believe it is important to provide our athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers, families & supporters with an update on our response for both major events and our regular sports programs.

To date we have not been directly impacted and will continue to monitor this evolving health threat and the implications for our events, following directives provided to us by NSW Health, the Office of Sport and the Commonwealth Department of Health.

We will be reinforcing to anyone on the ground throughout the duration of our events and all training sessions the importance of good hygiene as the best prevention to the spread of any virus:

  1. Do not share water bottles or sweat towels
  2. Wash your hands regularly with soap or hand sanitizer.
  3. Avoid rubbing / touching your eyes with unwashed hands.
  4. If you need to sneeze, sneeze into your elbow.

We would like to reinforce to all attendees the importance of adhering to travel guidelines and associated self-quarantine expectations and alerting the SSA office if you or a family member has been exposed.

We will provide further updates as necessary to keep you informed of any developments that may impact our event.
