Cycling has been reintroduced to the Academy’s umbrella and with the building of the brand new cycling complex on our doorstep, it’s sure to be an exciting and productive time for all involved.

The Southern Sports Academy’s Cycling Program provides development opportunities for talented young, cyclists in the Southern NSW region. The development program provides opportunities in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development.

The Program will comprise of technical, athlete education, sports science and fitness elements for scholarship holders.

To be eligible for the Academy Cycling Program, athletes must be:

  • U15-U19 years of age (born in 2003 – 2008 inclusive);
  • Committed to progressing to higher representation within the sport of Cycling;
  • Currently residing within the SSA regional catchment.

An athlete levy will apply to athletes selected into the program and this will be advised at the time of selection.

  • Induction & Testing Day (19th December – Wagga Multipurpose Stadium);
  • Gym membership. Information to follow;
  • Intensive training sessions by local elite coaches
  • Skill development
  • Inter-Academy Development camps
  • Muscular Skeletal Screening and Athletic Development programming;
  • Professional development consultation sessions (Your Local Club Athlete Education Program);
  • Annual presentation evening – Date to be set, (sit down dinner – pending COVID 19 Restrictions);
  • Access to Academy’s compulsory uniform (purchased via online portal);
  • Preferred rate on consultation services provided by Active Physiotherapy;

Athletes who are invited into the 2021 program will incur an athlete levy of $300* which includes skills coaching, athlete education, leadership and induction camp, and athletic development programming (gym membership)

*SSA Cycling athletes are eligible for the NSW Government Active Kids $100 voucher to contribute to the above levy.

SSA apparel is ordered separately for first time athletes.

*Scholarships are not in the form of a monetary sum but enable the athlete to participate in Academy development programs at a greatly reduced rate.
